Current Opportunities

The Department of English and Comparative Literature and the Institute for the Study of Sexuality and Gender at Columbia University invite applications for a tenured appointment in the field of Gender and Sexuality Studies. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. We seek a leading scholar working at the intersection of literary, cultural, and/or media studies and gender and sexuality studies, with an excellent record of research and publication. We are interested in innovative approaches to the field that will complement strengths in both communities while also furthering exciting new directions. Teaching responsibilities will be shared equally between the two units.  

Initial Zoom interviews will take place early in the spring semester; campus visits will follow for shortlisted applicants and be held in February/March during the spring semester. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2025.

Salary Range

Associate Professor: $105K-$145K; Full Professor: $145K-$200K

Position Description:

Reporting to the Associate Director and working closely with the Project Coordinators, the Business Officer is primarily responsible for managing the financial administration and human resources functions of the Center for the Study of Social Difference (CSSD), an interdisciplinary, inter-school faculty research center with international projects.  The Business Officer works in collaboration with CSSD staff to ensure reliable support and smooth administration for up to ten research groups, special CSSD events, grant projects, Women Creating Change events and programs, and new initiatives.
