Gender politics are central to various activist movements taking place around the world, from feminist occupations of universities in Chile, demonstrations against the abortion ban in Argentina, the political, personal and ethical challenges of being a feminist in Africa, and calls to support gender studies in Turkey, to Graduate Workers Union platform and struggle here at Columbia University.
Please join IRWGS in Conversation on Tuesday, September 25th, from 12-2 PM in Schermerhorn Ext 754, with Professor Ayse Gul Atinay(Sabanci University), Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Selina Makana (Columbia University), and Graduate Fellows Alessia Palanti and Tamara Hache (Columbia University), for a discussion about the challenges and transformations that these movements offer to our field.
Invited speakers will each give a brief talk followed by our group discussion. Lunch will be served. Space is limited. Please RSVP to to let us know if you will be attending. Flyer is attached.
