IRWGS Graduate Colloquium: Rohini Shukla (Religion, Columbia University) and Nikita Shepard (History, Columbia University)

About the Speakers

Rohini Shukla is a Ph.D. candidate in South Asian Religions at the Department of Religion, Columbia University. Her main research interest is gender and women’s labor in early Marathi literature. Her other research interests are B.R. Ambedkar’s intellectual history, medieval Indian philosophy, bhakti, gender and sexuality studies, and ethnomusicology.

Nikita Shepard is a first year PhD student in the Department of History and an IRWGS certificate candidate. Their research focuses on twentieth century US history with an emphasis on gender & sexuality, social movements, LGBTQ communities, and radical politics.
